Cyberattack on India

The Information Warfare Monitor in Canada has just released a report on a large cyberespionage network that has been targeting the Indian government, the Dalai Lama, and many others. Because the Indian government collects sensitive information from others, and because Indian national security agencies were also compromised (!!), data from many other sources has also been hacked. The attack was mounted from inside China, although that does not necessarily mean it was Chinese led. The technical level sounds as if it was extremely sophisticated.

The report can be found (somewhat tediously) here.

A New York Times story is here.

Just more evidence that cybersecurity failures have large and real costs; a point that does not yet seemed to have generated the energy that it should.
